Durante la noche del 23 al 24 de junio la ciudad de
Barcelona se ilumina con la celebración de la fiesta de San Juan, una noche
mágica marcada por el ritual del fuego. Coincidiendo con el solsticio de
verano, en la noche de San Juan se conmemora el triunfo de la luz sobre la
oscuridad mediante un fuego purificador y el agua, fuente de salud y
fertilidad.
En
Cataluña esta festividad está marcada por un ritual que se repite desde hace
siglos la noche del 23 de junio. La Flama (la llama) llega desde los
Pirineos (el Canigó) para encender todas las hogueras de Cataluña. Tras
recorrer la Diagonal llega a la plaza de Sant Jaume, donde se da lectura al
Missatge y se reparte el fuego por los barrios y poblaciones cercanas a
Barcelona.

During
the night from 23 to 24 June, the city of Barcelona is illuminated with the
celebration of San Juan, a magical evening marked by the ritual fire.
Coinciding with the summer solstice, on the night of St. John we commemorate the
triumph of light over darkness by a refiner's fire and water.
In
Catalonia this festival is marked by a ritual that is repeated for centuries the
